The Kansas Rush Competitive soccer program enables our youth to compete at a higher level of league play and to participate in up to three tournaments per season. We strive to provide each individual player the opportunity to play soccer in an environment that is both challenging and supportive. Our coaching staff emphasizes individual skill development that is appropriate for each child's interest and ability, while maintaining a positive atmosphere that is stimulating physically, mentally and socially.
All players participate in annual tryouts, which allow our coaching staff to place them on a team that most closely matches their current level of skill and commitment. Our goal is to find an appropriate team for every player who wants to participate in the program. When a player accepts a position on a Kansas Rush Competitive team, they are making a commitment to that team for a full year.
Fall and Spring Leagues
Our Competitive teams in the U8 through U14 age groups participate in the competitive divisions of the Heartland Soccer league for both the fall and spring soccer seasons. Teams typically participate in three tournaments in the fall and three tournaments in the spring, although younger teams may participate in fewer tournaments. All U14 and under teams will train twice a week at Lone Elm Park. Our U15 and above age groups will play club soccer in either the fall or spring since the other season will be reserved for high school play. U15 and older teams typically train two to three times a week at Lone Elm Park.
Winter Training and Leagues
Kansas Rush is introducing an enhanced winter training program this year that will include two training sessions per week and winter league play. For players in the U8-U11 age groups, they will have indoor training two days per week and they will participate in a winter indoor or futsal league. Players in the U12 age group and above will have two days of indoor training each week at New Century Fieldhouse (indoor turf) or a local school (indoor gym). These teams will also participate in a winter league that is appropriate for their developmental needs, ie. Winter outdoor or indoor league.
Participation in the Competitive program requires a financial commitment due to the cost of league entry fees, training facilities, and professional coaching staff. These fees can be broken down into the following categories:
- Registration Fee - $140 for U14 and below, $80 for U15 and above - This annual fee covers the cost of Heartland League play and a portion of the administrative costs of the Club
- Competitive Training Fee - $825 for U8-U14, $600 for U15 and above - This annual fee covers the cost of outdoor training fields and lights, indoor training facility rental, field maintenance and the cost of professional coaching for training sessions and games. This fee also covers the cost of goalkeeper training, Club-provided training shirts (2 per year), soccer and futsal balls, and other miscellaneous training equipment
- Tournament & Winter League Expense - this expense is variable based on the number and location of tournaments and leagues each team participates in. Each team will divide the cost of tournament entry fees, winter league fees and coach travel equally among their members
- Uniform Expense - Each Kansas Rush Competitive player will be required to purchase two complete uniforms and a backpack(jersey, shorts and socks). The cost of these uniforms is $160-180 and they will be worn for a 2-year period. Warm-ups and other items are available for purchase but not required.
Kansas Rush has established a limited pool of funds to provide financial assistance to players from low income families who cannot afford the full cost of our Competitive program. Financial aid only applies to the Club's Registration and Competitive Training fees, and the maximum discount for these fees is 50%. All players will be responsible for all team, tournament, and uniform fees. Eligibility for financial aid is based on verified household income in accordance with the guidelines established for the Federal WIC program and on the availability of funds. For more information and for a financial aid application, please contact the Kansas Rush office.
